The year was 1968. A time of change within American society was stirring. Anti-war demonstrations and the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy triggered a movement in the nation’s youth toward peace and love. The music of the era was filled with protest and pleas for reform. Many of the musical stars of that generation will come together to celebrate and commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of ‘68, when “Hippiefest” comes to the Special Events Center stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Saturday, July 19th, 2008 at 8pm.
The artists confirmed to perform at “Hippiefest” include Jack Bruce of Cream; The Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie, Melanie, Badfinger featuring Joey Molland, and Jonathan Edwards.

Melanie at the Hippiefest in Indio - Simply The Best!
Melanie was fantastic! What a night we had! WHAT A CONCERT!
She was was AMAZING! She sang
1. Brand New Key
2. Ruby Tuesday
3. Lay Down
4. Look What They Done To My Song
This was not like L.A. - YAY! I'm so glad I made it. I was 2 rows from the front! Her voice was fantastic. Beau was as charming as ever. I actually got to speak with them all for a moment, gave them each a copy of my new CD that I made especially for Melanie with my rendition of 3 of her songs on it - with music thanx to Michael J. Peace from Germany - thank you Michael! Melanie was very tired at the end of the show but I thonk she was rejuvenated by the enthusiasm of the audience. I did tell her that when she finishes the hippiefest tour to please take some time to rest and spend some quality family time. Hope she gets a chance to do that. BTW, Peter was very wonderfully pleasant to me. I just love that guy. The quintesential hippe he is and Melanie the forever Flower Child. What a neat family!
Jonathan Edwards was there first and sang Sunshine Go Away Today and a few other tunes. Then he told us of how he and his girlfriend had gotten pregnant and they chose to adopt the baby girl out in the Seventies hoping one day she would grow up and look up her biological parents - which she did! Her adoptive parents were with her at the concert. That was a neat story!
Badfinger was there and played their number one hits. My favorite of course was Come And Get It. They were magnificent!
The Turtles were there and reminded us of our younger days when they sang Happy Together and It Aint Me Babe. That was great!
Cream sang Sunshine Of Your Love which rocked the room.
I had to leave after that so I missed The Animals which was a drag but I'm really glad I went to this particular hippiefest as it made up for the fiasco in Los Angeles. Melanie was as always AMAZING!
